![]() So one could slide the Transition so more of it applies to clip 1 than clip 2. Where one would drag a Transition to the Transistion Track, and then place it under the split points. Owing to the way that PD is structured, for PD to do what Mark and Kevin are wanting (having no duration effect on clips or images when a Transition is applied), Cyberlink would, as I see it, need to add a Transitions Track to the program, that functions like the Effects Track does. I hear what you all are saying, but as for me, I’ve just gotten used to the way Transitions work in PD, so my workflow is always done in a manner that keeps in mind how PD applies Transitions, and how it effects the duration of the media the timelines. I am just sharing my opinion, and everybody probably has one! Wow.I kind of sounded a bit controversial there. I would be interested in other members points of view on this subject. I think that there should be a distinct difference between Video clips and Still Images and how Power Director handles them. As a video editor who makes slideshows I feel it would make better sense. Why couldn't the transition begin at the 4 second Mark and end at the 6 second mark and have a total duration of 10 seconds? I personally would like to see this particular aspect changed in the program. It's treating a Static image with a USER determined duration like a piece of film. That makes sense to me, which is exactly what Dafydd was explaining about splicing film.īut when you are using STILL IMAGES, I feel that this shortening of the Total Duration is not the BEST decision for the software to make. If I was using real film to create a Fade(Wipe) from one clip to the next and I wanted a 2 second fade duration, then I would physically overlap the two pieces of film by two seconds and have an 8 second total duration. Just my opinion, but I think that's counter intuitive. If you place two 5 second pictures on the Time Line that totals 10 seconds and you insert a 2 second transition it is shortened to 8 seconds total duration. I think we all are familiar with the problem Mark is running into trying to sync his pictures to a music track. I'm a rank novice whose still trying to figure this thing out. ![]() Is it supposed to do this? Is there a way to give placement priority over duration (as duration is not nearly as important to me as placement)? In essence, inserting the transition shortened the length of the project as a whole. The photos are set to a 6 second duration and the transition to 1:15. After applying the transition from the next to last photo to the last photo, the last photo ran to time marker 2:08:23. ![]() Before applying the transition, the last photo ran to time marker 2:10:09. I just did a quick experiment with PD8, placing a fade transition between the next to last photo and the last photo, with no transition at the end of the last photo. With other video editors, I have laid out all my photos first, syncing them with the audio track, then did all the transitions without affecting the length of the total project). I still don't understand why applying a transition affects placement of a photo on timeline (just a bit of context - I'm trying to sync certain photos with certain portions of the musical track. I understand about having to adjust duration to get the image to display for the amount of time I want it to.
